A Visit to Bistro du Midi…
There are exciting and inventive times ahead for Boston’s restaurant scene. With new restaurants popping up and redesigned spaces, there’s somewhere to check out every night of the week. Recently, we were invited to Bistro du Midi, a French-based cuisine restaurant located on Boylston Street, overlooking the Public Garden. Part of the Himmel Hospitality Group (Grill 23, Harvest, and a couple new restaurants coming to Seaport) and headed by Chef Robert Sisca, Bistro du Midi is timeless yet delivers fresh, reimagined classics in ways that leave you wanting more. Their wine list is top notch, as an Best of Award of Excellence winner from Wine Spectator, as our table enjoyed a classic Bordeaux. The meal started with an oyster topped with caviar, however, it was in edible “oyster shell” and it was phenomenal. That was followed by a seafood tower, as well as the Spanish octopus and foie gras. Decadent, yes, but when life offers you these types of opportunities, you must eat and enjoy. For a entree, there was a sharing of the duck, halibut, salmon, and filet, sided with carrots, asparagus, and pureed potatoes. All excellent dishes, especially my duck, which was perfectly seared, full of flavor due to the fat content, and tender. For dessert, I had the pistachio souffle, which I could have as a finishing course to my daily life. Overall, the team and service at Bistro du Midi were fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, great tableside manner, all providing such a wonderful experience.
